Course Aims

This practical, skills focused course is designed to strengthen participants’ ability to research, develop and shape high-quality content for radio. 

The course reflects real audio production workflows; including newsrooms, factual, music and storytelling productions, equipping participants with the tools to generate strong original ideas, verify information and build compelling, audience focused content. The course mirrors current industry demands and is tailored to the needs of radio professionals.

Trainers

Maryjane Smyth, The Reese

Maryjane is a Multi-award-winning radio producer (PPI, IMRO, Celtic Media Awards) with 20+ years’ experience across BBC Northern Ireland, TG4 and independent productions  

She has exxtensive experience in:  

  • Researching, devloping and producing live and pre-recorded programmes  
  • Editorial planning and content development  
  • Working in fast-paced radio and fact gathering environments  
  • Proven experience mentoring and supporting producers in:  
  • Research skills  
  • Editorial decision making  
  • Story development  

Maryjane brings real-world editorial and research expertise, grounded in high-level broadcast production.  She is an experienced mentor and trainer supporting trainees, producers and presenters and she brings a fresh, vibrant, energetic and fun learning process to real industry practice for participants.
