Minimum Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience in a similar role. 
  • Qualification in journalism or a related discipline 

In addition to this you should have :

  • A strong interest in news and current affairs   
  • Be good at developing unique radio ideas and alternative angles on existing stories 
  • Be able to spot and develop stories that get people talking 
  • Show strong leadership qualities in previous roles 
  • Have an excellent knowledge of defamation law and BAI Codes of Conduct 
  • Have a broad range of interests and follow news, politics, popular culture, social issues, sport and everything in between 
  • Be proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media 
  • Be a self-starter, solutions focused and are driven by ambition to succeed 
  • Have an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and to deadlines 

Job description

Newstalk is continuing to grow and develop their content team and are currently inviting applications for two Producer roles at the station.
Successful candidates will take up roles on one of the following primetime Newstalk programmes;
•    Newstalk Breakfast with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman
•    The Hard Shoulder with Kieran Cuddihy

In this exciting, fast paced role, the ideal candidate will :

  • Play a leading role in all aspects of daily production for the show 
  • Help develop the editorial vision for the programme and implement it accordingly 
  • Generate and develop creative, original and new ideas for the programme  
  • Produce live in the studio and build a good working relationship with the presenter 
  • Book guests and collate briefing material for the presenter. 
  • React to breaking news quickly and in an appropriate manner 
  • Direct, nurture and develop researchers and reporters working with the programme   
  • Edit and create imaginative audio pieces for the programme 
  • Secure the best guests and on-air exclusives for the programme 
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing departments to maximise commercial and PR opportunities
  • Other duties as required

Job description

This role requires a candidate who can meet the requirements of the following disciplines.

  • Report to Solutions Manager in relation to execution of creative solutions from conception through to completion with direct & agency teams.
  • Assist in developing content that makes Beat stand out from the crowd.
  • Assist in reporting of engagement metrics for content, continually showing the business value of creating engaging content.
  • Produce Post Campaign Analysis reports (PCAs)
  • Share commercial content on Beat’s social media platforms including management of Dark posts
  • Distribution of prizes
  • Assist with management of Beat Fleet & OB activity
  • Assist with roll out of on air competitions
  • Liaise with representatives from national Sales house Media Central & with direct sales team executives across all five counties
  • Attend solutions meetings
  • Play a key role in the co-ordination and completion of station events.
  • Deliver against creative, production and client demands.
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge at all times.
