Beat TY Student Wins at National Careers Skills Competition for TY Media Week.
Congratulations to Sadie Rose Tritschler who has just won a Highly Commended Award at tne National Careers Skills Competition in Ireland for her work during the TY Media Week in Beat in November 2025. Overall Sadie Rose came 6th in Ireland. I was at Beat TY media week this year. Which I had such a great time at.
To enter the competition, Sadie Rose had to write about her work experience and she wrote about her time at Beat. In the entry, she credited, Aoife Kearns, Beat's TY Media Week Mentor saying she 'couldn't have done it without Aoife'. Sadie Rose described her week at Beat as one where 'she felt at home', people on the corridor would say 'hey bestie' and that made her smile. She said that by talking to people she got to know them better and all about their jobs. Sadie Rose learned about on-air skills and got to use equipment, announce competitions on-air, recording and editing vox-pops and much more. For Sadie Rose the key to the success of the programme was that she could be herself more and more each day and that made her proud of herself. She learned about communications. about planning a radio show, the technical side of radio, and about always asking questions.
In the final element of her applicaton, Sadie Rose said that her work experience at Beat radio station influenced her greatly in terms of her personal career's direction. She chose to do this work experience because she always wanted to know what went on behind the scenes at a radio station, and how does it all work. And now all her questions have been answered, what goes on behind the scenes is teamwork, friendship, and communication, and it all works because of the people.
Before Sadie Rose went to Beat, she had no clue what she wanted to do in the future but after seeing how much she enjoyed media, editing and working with people it made her think about her future. When she was younger, she always loved working with her hands and she always built and designed inventions. She loved editing so much at Beat and making and designing things so Beat helped her go the right way in her career's choice. In conclusion Sadie Rose said 'i really enjoyed my week at Beat, and I am so thankful for this amazing opportunity that I will never ever forget, I made friends and skills for life at Beat'.
