Midlands 103 Pledges to Uphold Local Values as it Buys South East Radio.

  • 20th March, 2025

Midlands 103 has announced an agreement to acquire South East Radio, a prominent broadcasting service in County Wexford with over 35 years of history. This acquisition is pending standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Midlands 103, part of the Tindle Group operating local media outlets in the UK, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands serves counties Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath, reaching a weekly audience of 106,000 adults. The station emphasises its commitment to preserving South East Radio's local ethos, recognising the station's longstanding role as a trusted voice in County Wexford.

The integration of Midlands 103 and South East Radio aims to harness the combined expertise of both teams, enhancing offerings for listeners and commercial partners while maintaining each station's unique identity. This strategic move reflects the evolving landscape of local radio in Ireland, highlighting the importance of adapting to industry changes while upholding core community values.

The proposed transaction underscores the dynamic nature of the Irish radio industry, where stations are exploring collaborations and acquisitions to strengthen their positions and better serve their audiences. As the media landscape continues to evolve, such initiatives demonstrate a commitment to innovation and community engagement in local broadcasting.
