We’re gearing up for Radio Days Ireland 2025, which will take place from March 27th to 28th. We will be having an incredible lineup of speakers and discussions, these two days are set to provide valuable insights into the future of radio and audio. Radio’s Role in Combating Disinformation
Next, Professor Stephen Reiner of Stony Brook University, who will be on stage at 3:15 PM on Thursday, March 27th. His session explores how radio remains a trusted medium for delivering accurate news and engaging audiences in meaningful discussions. Reiner emphasises that while radio has the power to combat disinformation, it has also been a tool for spreading extreme views. His talk will focus on how radio can rebuild trust in journalism at a time when it’s needed most.
The Power of Diversity and Sustainability for Content and Commercial Growth
At 5pm, join Laura Costello, THINKHOUSE, Aisling Heraughty, Ocean FM, Mamobo Ogoro, GORM to hear insights on harnessing the power of diveristy and sustainability for content and commercial growth for the future of the broadcasting industry.
The Future of Audio Advertising: An Agency Perspective
On Friday, March 28th, from 9:00 am, Ciarán Cunningham from Radio Centre Ireland will moderate a discussion featuring top agency representatives from Core Media, Dentsu, GroupM, and OMG. They will share their perspectives on how audio advertising is evolving, discussing trends in digital audio, creative advertising, and research-backed strategies for future growth.
Protecting Journalism in the Digital Age
At 10:15 AM on Friday, Dawn Wheatley from DCU’s School of Communications will lead a critical discussion on the increasing hostility journalists face today. Wheatley’s research highlights how female journalists, in particular, experience online abuse and how this affects their professional visibility. The session will explore strategies to protect journalists and maintain high journalistic standards in an era of scepticism and misinformation.
AI’s Impact on Radio and Podcasting
Friday afternoon, Joanne Sweeney from the Digital Training Institute will join a panel alongside Glen Mulcahy, Titanium Media and James Cridland, Pod News to discuss the opportunities and challenges AI presents for the radio industry. Sweeney highlights how AI can enhance content creation, personalise advertising, and streamline workflows. Her advice? Every radio station should develop AI use cases to understand where it adds the most value.
Connecting with Younger Audiences
One of the biggest challenges for radio today is engaging younger listeners. On Friday, Andy Roberts, formerly of a part of KISS London, Alison Healy, Today FM and Mark Cunning, Wireless Ireland will discuss how radio can remain relevant to Gen Z and millennials. Moderated by Kate O’Malley from Galway Bay FM, this session will explore multi-platform storytelling, the role of TikTok, and the importance of diversifying content beyond traditional radio formats.
