‘ON-AIR – THE NEXT RADIO STAR’ HUNT IS NOW UNDERWAY.
98FM & SPIN1038 Launches Biggest Ever Search for New Talent.
Bauer Media Audio Ireland has launched its biggest ever search for new talent. 'On-Air - The Next Radio Star’ is a huge effort by the group to increase diversity and representation across its music and entertainment stations. Kicking off earlier this summer, 98FM & SPIN1038 hosted an open day in Dublin’s Dundrum Town Centre, inviting interested and aspiring radio presenters to come along, meet some of the current radio personalities and DJs and content editors, and put themselves forward to secure a spot on the programme.
After much deliberation, 98FM & SPIN1038 have now chosen six new interim presenters per station, resulting in 12 new voices on air on Irish radio. Some of the shows will feature a vibrant blend of English and Irish. After undergoing a training and mentorship series from industry professionals, the six candidates will each present a show live on air on 98FM or SPIN1038 every Sunday for four weeks. After the six months, one candidate will land a paid contract to host their own on-air residency on Irish radio.
'On-Air - The Next Radio Star' sees its first batch of candidates take to the airwaves this weekend, Sunday 20th October. Tune into 98FM from 8 – 9PM to hear first finalist Donna Lyons behind the mic. On SPIN1038, you can catch finalist Jade Buttle from 9 – 10PM. 98FM’s remaining 5 finalists are Emily McEvoy, Thabile Hlongwane, Nathalie Lennon, Michaela Lopes and Cian Griffin. Each candidate is from Dublin, with their occupations ranging from Special Needs Assistant to Software Tech Engineer. SPIN1038 finalists Ashley Makombe, Sean Carey, Chloe King, Thammy Gough and Nicola Ní Dháibhí representing Dublin Wicklow and Wexford.
