Learning Waves & IBI announce dates for Radio Days Ireland
  • 5th September, 2016

For the first time ever, Learning Waves Skillnet and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) have joined forces to organise a radio conference in Ireland for the independent radio industry. The result is RadioDays Ireland, which will take place in the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Dublin on October 17th and 18th of this year. The event is being organised by Teresa Hanratty from Learning Waves and Lisa NiChoisdealbha in conjunction with a sub committee from both organisations.

The conference aims to promote radio in Ireland, to give you tangible ideas to take away and implement in your stations and also to leave you with some thought provoking messages/ideas that will further enhance the media landscape in Ireland.

The conference will begin on Monday afternoon where Dennis Clark, Vice President of Talent Development, iHeart Media in the USA will open the conference.  Dennis loves nothing more than helping talent and programmers make great radio.  A lifelong radio junkie, he instantly knew that working with personalities was his calling when he joined the team of Rick Dees, the legendary LA morning man, 35 years ago. Yeah, it’s trite to say that he took to it like a fish to water, but boy, did Dennis ever swim.  Dennis will talk to us about Managing and Developing Talent and will also host a breakout session for Breakfast Presenters/Producers on Monday afternoon.

Additional speakers on Monday afternoon will include, Nick Ferrari from LBC who will talk to us about What Makes great speech radio and how you can create content that really connects with your audience, Cera Ward, Country Director, Large Customer Sales, UK and Ireland who will talk to us about How Radio can Capitalise on its Digital Assets, Chris Jones, Audience Development Specialist, Google on Social Media - Help or Hinderance for Radio, while on Tuesday speakers will include Sean Kyne, Junior Minister for Communications, on Policy Development, Michael O'Keeffe, CEO of the BAI, on the Future of Radio and many more to be announced.

On Monday night we will host a dinner at 7.30pm in the Double Tree by Hilton, Dublin and entertainment which will be provided by the extended Black Family.  There is a special accommodation rate available to all conference attendees directly from the hotel.  An online booking system and full details of the conference schedule will be available in the next few days.
