Inspiring Inclusion through training as Learning Waves celebrates International Women’s Day..
On International Women's Day, Learning Waves is proud to reflect on its commitment to fostering a workplace that champions diversity and gender equality. The 2023 course participation figures affirm our dedication to inclusivity, with male participants comprising 45.85%, female participants at 54.06%, and non-binary participants contributing 0.09%.
At Learning Waves, we believe that inspiring a diverse and inclusive workforce is a journey not a sprint and we have been on that journey since 2021. Our commitment since then has seen us engage with our members to determine their needs and their understanding of GEDI as it applies to the workplace. Sector wide surveys among leaders and employees have helped Learning Waves shape its approach to supporting organisations across the Independent Radio sector in their GEDI journey. The approach has to date included a series of Introductory training programmes, the development and delivery of an Equality and Diversity Lead training programme, research among leaders and employees, drafting of a sector wide EDI strategy, due for publication in Quarter 1 2024. In addition to this Learning Waves has developed a GEDI Toolkit to support the implementation of the strategy once adopted by the sector. The toolkit contains supports for organisations at all stages of their GEDI journey.
Today, on International Womens Day to further #inspireinclusion across the sector, Learning Waves has added three new additional training programmes to its calendar for 2024. These programmes are:
- Inclusive Leadership and Development and Inclusive Recruitment with Fiona Triller, Irish
- Creating a Culture of Dignity and Respect at Work with Ellisha Soanes
- Psychological Safety at Work with Gill Cooke
The above programmes will be delivered across the year with additional programmes being added based on member needs during the year. The introduction of the above programmes, alongside the publication of a Toolkit will provide the sector with the skills and knowledge required to ensure their workforce and workplaces continue to #inspireinclusion both on and off air.
Commenting on the above, Learning Waves Project Manager, Teresa Hanratty said that ''all of our programmes and events aim to inspire inlcusion at all levels across the sector and we are excited to launch three new training programmes in this space which will compliment the work we are already doing and will inspire the sector and those working in it to ensure inclusiveity is at the heart of everything we do".
