Storytelling and Original Journalism Workshop.
Learning Waves Skillnet are delighted to welcome back Andrew Wilson and Jane Kinghorn from the BBC Academy to present our final course for 2018 - Storytelling and Original Journalism. Andrew and Jane are no strangers to radio sector in Ireland as they have both been presenting workshops for Learning Waves Skillnet since 2011. The most recent course delivered by Andrew and Jane was back in July 2017 and some comments from the participants on the Storytelling course were : 'the original storytelling advice that i got from Andrew and Jane was really practical and it will help me revamp my show' Claire O'Brien, Midlands 103, 'Andrew and Jane work very well together, the course was very interesting and i learned lots, one of the best Learning Waves courses i have taken' Eilis Sheehy, LMFM.
The course on December 8th will examine what stops us producing original stories and offers quick, no-cost solutions. It will also look at the power of 'disruptive' questions and at active listening as a means to seeing stories in a new way. It will offer techniques for improving the way you tell stories and for helping to pitching them effectively.
After attending the course you will :
- Have a deeper understanding of the key skills needed to find and tell compelling stories
-Be able to listen to contributors at a deeper level to uncover new insights and information
-Have knowledge of techniques to enable original thinking and original journalism
-Receive and learn from focused feedback on individual story writing
